Working with Multi-Color Ribbon Tubing

June 24, 2003 ... Here is a helpful hint that will make working with ribbon tubing easier. To properly split MCR tubing Freelin-Wade recommends insering a pin, allen key, or solid rod into the tubes being separated (approx. .75 - 1" with a snug fit). Split the tubes by pulling one towards you and pushing the other away. Once the tubes have separated they can easily be stripped and cut to the desired length. Do not use scissors, utility knives, or try to cut the tubes apart. This will damage the wall of the tubing and may cause weak spots or failures when using push-to-connect fittings. With proper handling tube connections made with MCR tubing are quick, easy, and reliable.
